KB Session 12/6/16

SW 5x10 24kg
5:30 am

Feeling a little low on energy/motivation plus my form was starting to slip so I called it a day. I have gone to bed around midnight the past two nights so that could explain the energy. I strung together a few night of going to bed between 10:30/11:00 late last week and I was feeling amazing, so this is proof positive I need to work harder on a consistent, earlier bedtime.

KB Session 12/2/2016

SW 3x10 24kg (53lb)
GS 1x10 14 kg (30lb). - goblet squat

I feel my swing form is much better with the 24kg kettlebell than the 30. Although I need to see if I can practice more and get my groove on with the 30 as well.

KB Session 11/27/16

Early morning KB session after watching the last Formula 1 race of the season. Props to Lewis Hamilton on the win and Nico Rosberg on his first World Championship title.

Focusing on the 4 components of the KB swing I did the following:

SW 3x15, 1x10 30lb

Sets of 10 reps seem too few to hone in on fixing issues but 15 seems right. This session I noticed the KB handle hitting the inside of my thighs more than normal. My feet seemed to be in a comfortable position, so perhaps I need to go deeper in to my hinge movement. Add it to the list of things I need to work on.

KB Workout Day #???

I felt like working out after two days of eating well (if not slightly unhealthy too); a filling Thanksgiving dinner and then fairly healthy snacks (mostly meat/cheese) while hanging out with family and friends watching Gilmore Girls on Black Friday.

After warming up (5 halos, 5 bridges, 5 squats x2) I didn't feel like pumping out a 10x10 session so I just went with what felt ok at the time. While I still need to work on my form, I stopped each set when I felt my energy waning.
  • SW 1x25 30lb
  • SW 1x10 30lb
  • SW 1x13 30lb
  • SW 1x17 30lb
After the workout I came across the following article in a StrongFirst newsletter. After reading it and watching the video on tips for a better swing, I'm all pumped for tomorrow. The fact I'm pumped and not exhaused is a good sign too... and part of the point.
