Ride Report: South Waterfront

Today marks the first day I have riden a bicycle in 4 1/2 months. Today marks the first time I have ridden a bike to/from my new employer. Today marks the first time I have gone for a ride during my lunch. Today is the day I decide to keep riding...

I sure did miss riding my bike. I brought in my full-suspension mtb so that I could explore part of the Waterfront Bike Loop and not worry about the terrain if it got rough. I decided to ride south to the Sellwood bridge and back, round trip of 3-4 miles. The temperature was in the mid-50's and overcast. Since my office is within throwing distance of the multi-use trail, I changed, took my bike down the elevator to the parking garage, mounted up and rode. I love the proximity to the Multi-Use Trail (MUT).

Along the ride I saw a "ginormous" sized snake. I tried to get a picture of its little flicking tongue but couldn't.

Being spring time, there were of course some flowers.

There were numerous boat clubs, launches and even a boat dealership along the river.

I actually learning something today during my ride, too. Canadian Geese know how to hiss. No, not "kiss"... "h-i-s-s". Maybe they were spending to much time with the snake or maybe what I heard was actually a "honk" with a canadian accent but it was definately a hissing sound.

I will definately continue to ride during lunch but will likely bring in my trusty commuter bike or road bike. My full suspension bike doesn't feel "sophisticated enough" to have in my office at corporate headquarters. :)
