Police

On Thursday, June 29 2006, after picking up Evan at daycare, I noticed a police car's flashing lights down the street I was waiting to turn left on. The officer was out of his car talking to two girls on bicycles. The girls were probably 3 and 5 years old. They were on the sidewalk of a very busy road without anyone supervising them.

Thankfully the police officer saw them and stopped. His presence made sure the girls didn't wonder further away from where they should have been, didn't get hurt by a vehicle on the busy street or worse. Chances are the girls were just around the corner from their home. Chances are their parent(s)/sitter made a mistake and turned their head away for a bit too long. Hopefully they will be welcomed back with open arms and tears in their parent's/sitter's eyes. Regardless, it is a happy ending simply because the officer was with them.
