Ride Report: Oaks Park

I started off today's ride knowing that I would cross the Hawthorne Bridge to SE Portland and ride south on the Springwater Corridor trail.

Portland from just south of the Hawthorne bridge.

As you can see by the picture, the weather was great today. During my ride it was mostly sunny and approximately 67 degrees. Perfect.

Just south of the Hawthorne bridge is OMSI, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. This is a very cool place to visit particularly if you have kids.

A very unique and permanent attraction at OMSI is the USS Blueback submarine. This sub made an appearance in The Hunt for Red October and was the Navy's last non-nuclear attack submarine.

The mid-point of my ride was Oaks Amusement Park. I decided to turn around at this point instead of riding a mile or so south and walk across the Sellwood bridge to get back to SW Portland. Maybe another day though.
